Accessibility
Where They Stand should be usable by everyone, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard, voice control or magnification.
What you can expect
- Text can be enlarged to 200% or more without loss of content, and the layout adapts to small screens.
- Every part of the site can be used with a keyboard alone. A "Skip to main content" link is the first stop.
- Pages follow your device's light or dark setting, respect "reduce motion", and keep working with high-contrast (forced colours) modes.
- Text and controls meet the colour contrast levels in the guidelines.
- Progress while a briefing is prepared ("Searching", "Preparing a sourced briefing") and its completion are announced to screen readers.
- Citations are buttons labelled with the source they open, such as "Open source 3".
- The site uses no cookies and needs no account.
Standard and testing
The site aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. It was last tested on 10 October 2026. Every page, and the main interactive states (a briefing, the filter editor, an open source, the report form), were checked with the axe-core automated checker at desktop and phone sizes in light and dark modes, with no failures found. Keyboard use was checked by hand.
Automated checks find only some problems, so testing with assistive technology users is still to do. If something does not work for you, please tell us.
Known limitations
- Briefings are written by AI. They are checked for citations, not for plain English, so some may be harder to read than we would like.
- Quotations are reproduced exactly as they appear in Hansard, including its formatting and any errors, so that they can be checked against the official record.
- Links to the official record and to TheyWorkForYou go to sites we do not run, whose accessibility we cannot control.
Reporting a problem
