Overseas aid spending and domestic priorities
Early day motion 1015, tabled 21 October 2026 by James McMurdock (Independent). Signed by 1 member.
That this House recognises the importance of ensuring that taxpayers’ money is spent responsibly and delivers demonstrable value; expresses concern that significant sums continue to be spent on overseas aid projects when public services at home face substantial financial pressures; believes that the Government should prioritise essential domestic services, including healthcare, education and national security, when allocating limited resources; and calls on the Chancellor of the Exchequer to reduce the overseas aid budget in the forthcoming Budget, review programmes that do not demonstrate clear value for money, and redirect savings towards essential domestic priorities.
