Parliament's record since 1997: debates, questions, statements, votes, bills, committees and members' interests

Where They Stand

Sourced briefings on the record of Parliament

The lighter side

Parliament is not all serious. Hansard notes when the House laughs, and members table motions about prize pies and pub cats. Here are some of those moments, from every side, as the record has them.

Found in the record by plain rules: a speech the Official Report marks “[Laughter.]”, a mention of unparliamentary language, an early day motion whose title is about food, animals, birthdays or records. No AI chooses or describes them, and they come with no comment. Each links to where it was said, so it can be read in context.
