Royal National Mòd Glasgow

Early day motion 1047, tabled 27 October 2026 by Torcuil Crichton (Labour). Signed by 1 member.

That this House congratulates all participants, competitors, performers, organisers and volunteers of the Royal National Mòd 2026, held in Glasgow from 9 to 17 October; celebrates the enormous success of this year’s festival, which welcomed a record number of entrants and an estimated 11,500 attendees across venues throughout the city; recognises the vital contribution of An Comunn Gàidhealach, the local organising committee and all partner organisations in delivering an outstanding celebration of Gaelic language, music, arts and culture; notes that this year’s Mòd marked 40 years of Gaelic Medium Education in Glasgow, a milestone commemorated through the festival’s programme; pays tribute to the generations of pupils, families, teachers, campaigners and communities who have helped sustain and grow Gaelic education in the city; affirms that the success of Mòd Ghlaschu 2026 stands as a testament to four decades of Gaelic Medium Education and to Glasgow’s proud identity as the City of the Gaels, demonstrating the enduring strength of Gaelic language and culture and the importance of passing this rich heritage on to future generations in Glasgow and elsewhere; and looks forward to Glasgow’s record attendance being matched and surpassed when the Mòd and the singing returns to the Western Isles in 2027.
