Drumchapel United youth player’s 26-mile fundraising challenge

Early day motion 1052, tabled 27 October 2026 by Patricia Ferguson (Labour). Signed by 1 member.

That this House congratulates eight-year-old Shay Crosbie on his remarkable fundraising effort, cycling 26 miles around Glasgow’s football stadiums in support of his team, Drumchapel United, based in Glasgow West; notes that the challenge will begin at the Donald Dewar Centre, the club’s home, and take in the grounds of Clydebank, Partick Thistle, Rangers, St Mirren and Celtic before finishing at Hampden Park; recognises that the funds raised will help his team travel to a tournament in Blackpool, providing valuable opportunities for the squad to develop their footballing skills, teamwork and confidence; welcomes the support shown by Celtic, Rangers and Partick Thistle, who have already responded to requests for prize donations; and celebrates the determination, community spirit and generosity demonstrated by this young football fan, whose efforts exemplify the positive impact of grassroots sport on young people and local communities.
