Basingstoke Hospital rebuild

Early day motion 1067, tabled 28 October 2026 by Alex Brewer (Liberal Democrat). Signed by 1 member.

That this House notes the pressure on the current site of Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital caused by delays to its rebuild; further notes that the cost of maintaining the ageing estate continues to rise, with the repair backlog now standing at £52,931,195 and construction of the new hospital not scheduled to begin until between 2037 and 2039; recognises that maintaining the existing hospital is projected to cost as much as building a new one, thereby representing poor value for taxpayers; regrets the previous Conservative Government's delays to the New Hospital Programme and its broken promise to rebuild Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital by 2030; further recognises the impact that continued delays are having on patients, healthcare staff and local health services; pays tribute to the staff of Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital for their dedication and professionalism despite these challenges; and calls on the Government to bring forward the timetable for the new hospital so that construction begins by 2030.
